We are a general engineering workshop handling all types of steel fabrications, including structural steel platforms, frames, stairways, hand railings, gantries, silos, hoppers, ducting, chutes and tanks, all based on client’s drawings and designs.

For the past 42 years, we have been involved in the pre-fabrication of all grades and types of materials required for the building of bulk storage tanks in accordance with the API 650 specification. Our company does not get involved with the actual site erection of these tanks.

Our manpower resources include qualified artisans, and all welders are coded welders.

Rex Engineering Supplies (Pty) Ltd was established in 1983 to serve as a vital link between clients and fabricators. In 1988, Mr. Hennie Venter joined the company, marking asignificant milestone in its growth. That same year, Rex Engineering began renting aworkshop from Allets Properties and launched its own fabrication facility. Cobus van Zyl joined as a director in 1996. By 1998, thecompany expanded further, relocating to its own premises, which began with a 2200m² workshop. After our latest expansion, we now have almost 4000m² under roof.

With an impressive portfolio of 55 Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), we ensure strength, durability, and compliance with the most rigorous industry standards. We adhere to all certifications and compliance requirements, guaranteeing safety and reliability in every project.

We also handle a significant amount of work requiring Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), which we subcontract to trusted professionals to ensure the highest level of quality assurance.

Our Services Include:

  • Structural Steel Platforms: Manufacturing frames, stairways, hand railings, gantries, silos, hoppers, ducting, chutes, and tanks based on client drawings and designs.
  • Tank Prefabrication: Cutting, bevelling, rolling, shotblasting, and primer painting of all bottom, shell, and roof plates.
  • Nozzle Prefabrication: Complete nozzle fabrication, welding onto shell plates, and preparation for post-weld heal treatment (PWHT).
  • Custom Fabrications: Fabrication of grillage beams, cat ladders, spiral staircases, platforms, sumps, dip pipes, cooling rings, and holding-down chairs.
